I would rather be on my farm than be emperor of the world.

About Us

Family Farm

We are the 4th generation to care for our small Midwestern family farm.  Over the years, we have raised livestock, corn, soybeans, and hay.  Dismayed with the increasing amount of fertilizers and chemicals being used in traditional row-crop farming, we started looking for an alternative crop which would be all natural and chemical free.  In 2015, a relative suggested  we try growing lavender.  We began researching lavender and quickly became intrigued.  We learned about plants, climates, and soil types, and soon we were hooked on Lavender!  We planted a small test-bed the next spring.

Getting Started

Like most new lavender farmers, we were soon seeking advice from the expert growers in Sequim, WA.  We purchased our first plants from Sequim, a mix of angustifolias and x-intermedia's.  Not sure if the plants would grow on our farmland's heavy clay soils, we installed our test beds.  Our research indicated that using raised planting beds amended with limestone gravel and compost would produce the best results.  We were delighted to find that the lavender would indeed grow on our farm, and soon we were harvesting flowers.  And as an added bonus, the deer had no interest in eating the plants.

Full Production

Armed with our research and experience, we decided to go into full production and become a wholesale supplier of dried lavender flowers.  Our test beds taught us that Lavandin (lavandula x-intermedia) varieties had the best chance of thriving on our farm.  We prepared the field and began planting our new "Grosso" and "Phenomenal" plants.  Enduring an exceptional amount of physical labor, we installed and planted 2 1/2 miles of amended and raised beds.  The reward for all the hard work is the beautiful, fragrant, all-natural lavender crop each summer.  There is deep satisfaction in providing a product that is both good for our farm and great for our customers.  We love it!
